December 1st: Buy Decorations for the House
Being that Chris and I had only been married for 3 1/2 months at this time, we had not yet started the never ending collection of Christmas decor. So, it only made sense to start off our first "date" at Target to shop for stockings, Christmas ornaments, Christmas lights, window decor, and anything else that might catch our eye.

Every year as Christmas approaches, members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints from Orland, Willows, Chico and Paradise put on a Creche festival at the LDS Stake Center in Chico, CA. This event usually takes place the first few days of December and is open to the public, members and non-members, all are welcome! Displayed at the Creche Festival are collections of nativity sets or "Creches" from among members, non-members and their neighbors from all over the world.
This year Chris and I decided to attend the Creche festival as one of our "12 dates of Christmas," and were honored to have my parents come along with us!!
There are so many different Nativity sets from various countries and various decades. To the left was one of my favorite, yet simple, nativity collection.
The all white collection to the right was another one of my favorites. There is a little sign/note in front of the nativity that reads, "This set started as a glazed set that was given to me from my mother. After she passed away, her "Ceramic" friends finished it for her." Amazing!

If you are ever in Chico during the beginning of December, I encourage you to take a stroll through the Creche Festival, it truly is amazing to see the artwork of so many individuals from all over the world.
